When it comes to making important decisions, particularly ones where emotions can cloud your judgment, try dimming the lights before you make up your mind. Research* has shown that bright lights make us feel emotion more intensely and could therefore lead us to make less rational decisions in certain situations. Try flicking the switch and lighting a candle for more relaxed, rational evaluations.
