Shine Like the Moon: Reclaiming the Rhythm of Your Light

In this article is inspired by the Supermoon of 5th November. We are invited to stop forcing our light and start honouring our natural rhythms — like the moon. Through personal reflection, a 3-step practice, and a moment of clarity sparked by the K‑pop song "Golden", Sarah Cretegny reminds us: ✨ You don’t have to shine all the time to be whole. Let your light ebb and flow. Let your being lead. Let your wild shine — softly, truly, and in its own time.

Last night, the sky lit up with a supermoon – bright, bold, and breathtakingly full. But even in full illumination, the moon didn’t force its light. It simply reflected. It moved through its cycle – waxing, waning, vanishing, and reappearing – without ever losing its essence. Even when invisible to the eye, it remained whole. Still the moon.

So… what if your shine worked the same way?

We live in a world that glorifies the always-on glow. Productivity is praised. Rest is often mistaken for weakness. We’re taught that in order to matter, we have to be visible. Loud. Bright. Constant. But nature tells a different story. Everything wild moves in rhythm.

The moon cycles. The tides follow. The earth spins in seasons.
And you – with your brilliant mind, tender body, and beating heart – you have cycles too.

Some days you blaze.
Some days you gather.
Some days you need to disappear into yourself — not to retreat, but to re-member.

You don’t have to be the sun to be significant.
You can shine like the moon — intuitive, reflective, and real.

A Wild Way of Living

When we begin to live in harmony with our own inner rhythms, something shifts. We stop over-identifying with hustle. We stop shaming ourselves for needing a pause. We begin to recognise that rest isn’t the opposite of productivity – it’s part of it.

This is an invitation to let ourselves be seasonal.
Let our light come in waves.
Let our being matter as much as our doing.

The moon doesn’t apologize for its phases. Neither should you.

🌑 Reflective Practice: Shine in Your Own Rhythm

Inspired by last night’s supermoon, take a moment to tune inward.
This reflection is for wherever you are – glowing, growing, or quietly gathering.

Find a quiet space. Breathe deeply. Let your shoulders drop. Place your feet gently on the ground.

Step 1: Notice Your Phase – Where are you right now?

  • 🌕 Glowing — feeling visible, expressive, ready to share.
  • 🌓 Growing — in the process of building, learning, preparing.
  • 🌘 Gathering — inward, craving slowness or stillness.

Step 2: Feel What’s True
What’s alive in you right now? An emotion, a need, a whisper.
Where might you be pushing when you actually need to pause?
What would honouring your truth look like?

Step 3: Return to Rhythm
Name 2-3 things that help you reconnect with your natural rhythm – movement, music, stillness, nature, silence…
What does authentic shining look like in this exact phase?

Let your answers meet you without judgment. You are not behind. You are becoming – in perfect time.

🌝 Honour Your Natural Timing

Last night’s supermoon offered a luminous reminder: Wholeness isn’t about always being bright. It’s about being true.

Yesterday, I caught myself straining — pushing, proving, performing.
Trying too hard to shine, when what I really needed… was to soften.

I went to my Zumba class with my 2 daughters— hoping to shake it off — and then a song came on: Golden from the K-pop Demon Hunters. It stopped me in my tracks. You can listen to it here

The lyrics echoed…. “I’m done hidin, Now I’m shinin, Like I’m born to be. “

Something deep within me whispered:
You don’t need to try so hard. Just reflect what’s already there.
So I did.
I softened. I breathed.
I let go of the performance – and presence returned.

The moment held me – like moonlight on quiet water.

Let it remind you:
You don’t have to force your light. You just have to trust it.

Tonight I invite you to look at the moon, and give yourself permission to let your light shine in the world just like the moon does.

Thanks for reading.
