My Perimenopause Diaries: When words won’t come
I thought I had nothing to say, then life reminded me otherwise.. a bestselling book, a bouquet of flowers, and a reminder that this journey is worth celebrating.

Dear Diary,
What’s up…
Do you know what? I am not sure what to write about… I know I want to write. I love words and the beautiful, artistic process of putting them together… and I have so much to say and share that, sometimes, I get blocked and choose silence instead.
Maybe that’s why I am committing to doing The Artist’s Way framework with a small circle of women so we can support each other. It feels more enjoyable when done in sisterhood (and we help keep each other on track!).
One big highlight of this week was the publication of our beautiful book, Wise Women Don’t Whisper — Menopause: the Ultimate Feminine Rising.
It was an emotional day. It’s not every day that your words are published in a book! And not only that, so many women bought it that it became a number-one bestseller on Amazon. It even reached the top three in the Menopause category (I mean… what?! In the same list as some of my absolute favourite books on menopause!)… And to top it all off, one of my dear friends surprised me with a beautiful bouquet of flowers to celebrate, such a simple gesture, yet it touched me deeply.
I also read my chapter again, this time on paper, not on a screen, and it felt different. More real, embodied and raw… so raw that I wanted to hug myself. Then I began reading the other stories, and I cried. Tears of joy, honour, and deep reverence.
Yes, this journey is so deeply personal, yet there are shared threads running through all our stories: awakening, courage, resilience, intuition and more, so much more.
Let’s celebrate! I am going to celebrate and honour who we are becoming… because we are being prepared for the last most potent rite of passage in womanhood, to claim our crown and help birth a new paradigm, one where the wisdom of our elders, the grandmothers, is once again honoured and valued.
I know this stage can be challenging but today I’m choosing to honour it through gratitude… so I going to write 50 things I am grateful for menopause for, let’s begin!
- I am grateful for the new opportunities my body is offering me.
- I am grateful for my body not giving up on me.
- I am grateful for the new wisdom emerging.
- I am grateful for no longer needing to prove myself.
- I am grateful for no longer needing validation from others.
- I am grateful for being brought closer to my truth.
- I am grateful for the women in my life transitioning alongside me.
- I am grateful for the elder women sharing their wisdom.
- I am grateful for the woman I am becoming.
- I am grateful…
- I am grateful…
- I am grateful…
So… it looks like there is so much to say after all.
Until next week,
Lara 🌹
A loving note: I’m sharing my lived experience as a woman who menstruates, knowing that not all women do, and not everyone who menstruates identifies as a woman. This is not advice or a recommendation. If something here inspires you, please research, honour your intuition, check local laws, and seek qualified professional support. Any brands I mention are simply personal favourites; I’m not paid, gifted or affiliated. If that ever changes, I’ll label it clearly. 🧡

The Portal of She | Evolving Feminine Leadership
“She remembered who she was, and the game changed.” This Lalah Delia quote captures the essence of my work. After over two decades in leadership roles across corporate, private, and public sectors, I stepped away to found The Portal of She Consulting, a space devoted to supporting women in organisations through leadership and executive coaching (with a focus on women navigating perimenopause), corporate training, and empowerment circles. I’m also a mystic; my path with traditional plant practices and herbalism has deepened my connection to the feminine and to life’s great mystery. Currently moving through the wild and wise portal of perimenopause, I am delighted to be a contributing author to the #1 bestselling book: Menopause-Wise Women Don’t Whisper. Beyond work, I am nourished by nature, poetry, cacao, Mother Mary, and the love of my animals. I am based between the UK and Spain. May my words awaken something beautiful within you. May you remember. With love.
