We are sure you’ll agree, there is nothing better than a good book. A recent survey of readers showed that 93% of respondents had read literary books to make themselves feel better, so with this in mind, Psychologies has partnered up with Vintage Books for the launch of Shelf Help, a carefully selected list of 12 books for each month of 2014 that have the power to make life brighter.

Shelf Help is a collection of titles carefully curated by literary journalist Alex Clark, chosen for their particular focus on twelve areas of mental, spiritual and physical health. Each month we will be giving away prizes, from copies of the Shelf Help monthly book, to tickets for special events with the authors, and we'll be bringing you interviews and essays from those who curated the Shelf Help list.

December’s book is award-winning writer Edmund de Waal's bestseller, The Hare With Amber Eyes. Enter our competition to be in with a chance to win one of 10 copies.
