New fiction: Thirst

On a swelteringly hot day, Eddie Chapman is caught in an horrendous traffic jam and decides to run home.

It is the start of an intense post-apocalyptic scenario, which sees fresh water disappearing, and parched people’s moral codes draining away just as fast.

Warner hones in on the details of survival and how relationships and communities go to the bad in the face of disaster.

Thirst by Benjamin Warner (Bloomsbury, £12.99) is out now.
