Street Wisdom, the new free event dubbed the ‘University of The Street’ is coming to London on 5 July 2015. A powerful way to use the streets to find fresh answers and ideas, Street Wisdom is the brainchild of fellow authors and creative leadership gurus Chris Baréz-Brown and David Pearl. The concept relates to Buddhist techniques of mindfulness and shows us a more accessible modern urban route to being present in the moment.
The not-for-profit project began in the UK in 2014 and has rapidly gained an international following with events running from Buenos Aires to New York, Los Angeles, London, Amsterdam and Tel Aviv. The aim is to get 1 million people involved by 2017.
All you need to come prepared with is a question you want an answer to. Something not too big like ‘what is the meaning of life?’ or too small ‘what should I have for supper?’ It can be a personal or business related question. Street Wisdom is a group event which meets at a designated point on a street. The Street Wisdom team take you through a series of exercises to ‘tune you up’ to the environment around you, there is then time to walk, observe and contemplate your question with a group discussion at the end. Some people have breakthroughs, for others it takes a few days for the answers to wash over them.
‘At the centre of Street Wisdom is the idea that every moment is extraordinary and every street full of inspiration. Few of us give ourselves time or permission to really focus on the world around us – but, for me, there’s no such thing as an ordinary street, just ordinary thinking. The urban landscape is full of signs and signals that we normally ignore, rich stimulus that can help us learn something new about ourselves. What we now know is that answers are everywhere, you just need to look for them. Street Wisdom is a simple, powerful and effective tool that has produced some profound results and can be easily incorporated into daily life,’ says David Pearl, one of the Street Wisdom co-founders.
The session will not only make you feel more inspired and ‘present’ but will give you a great sense of human connection with like minded folk.
Join us in central London on 5 July for a special, free-of-charge event led by the co-founder of Street Wisdom, David Pearl. For more information and to sign up, visit www.streetwisdom.org
