We’re all in a rush nowadays, aren’t we? Busy, busy, busy. We’re far too busy to indulge in, say, a little bit of poetry. That’s why a group of blue-sky thinkers have set up 'The Poetry Takeaway', which travels around the country producing made-to-order poems. It works like this. You queue up (in a similar fashion to queuing at a burger van, you see) to talk to one of the Poetry Chefs. You discuss your order with your designated chef, who will ask you a few details about yourself – what you like, what you do – and within 10 minutes they will have cooked up a bespoke poem just for you.
The mobile poetry emporium will be at London’s Southbank this Thursday (6 October) for National Poetry Day, and will go on to visit Leeds, Manchester and Durham.
