When the fire damaged M1 was closed last week, a collective moan rippled across the many motorists attempting to make their way to football matches and the marathon. But one man saw this as the perfect opportunity to indulge in his hobby — extreme ironing. The laundry enthusiast grabbed his iron, board and a crumpled white shirt and was seen ironing in the middle of the motorway.
Extreme ironing is said to have been invented by Leicester’s Phil Shaw in 1997 and since then has seen stunts including ironing in a canoe and while sky diving. The UK awaits its next stunt…
