On the couch with Thandie Newton

Psychologies is delighted to have award-winning actress and Olay’s Total Effects ambassador Thandie Newton as our June cover star. In this month’s On the couch interview Thandie exudes radiance, strength and honesty and speaks of the benefits of getting older.

The actress told us about the challenges of motherhood and how having a mother who was so different from anyone else was ‘pretty good soil to start growing in. Complicated but wonderful’. She loves the fact that her mother never wore make-up and when asked what advice she would give to her 13-year-old self she admitted it would be ‘don’t relax your hair, Thandie!’.

We also asked Thandie about her views on ageing. ‘I really like getting older’ she confessed, ‘I’ve acquired more nous about how to get through this life, and all this experience allows me to inform my daughters of the pitfalls and peaks. I feel I represent everything I’ve been through.’
