From Lulu, with love

From Lulu, with love

When it comes to celebrity endorsed beauty products, the Psychologies beauty team have seen and tried it all: skincare care by Kathy-mother of Paris-Hilton anyone? But behind the gloss and starry credentials, occasionally a few ranges can make even the most cynical of Beauty Editors sit up and take note.

A shining example is singer and national treasure Lulu’s Time Bomb range – over a recent beauty breakfast, she demoed the most recent additions: the impressive line-minimising Time Bomb Killer Filler Wrinkle Compound, £27 (qvcuk.com) and seriously volumising Operation Glam Haircare, from £16, while debuting her new beauty and style book: Lulu’s Secrets To Looking Good, £18.99 (Collins).

Packed with confidence-boosting health, beauty and fashion tips garnered from experts she’s worked with during her 40-year career, at 60 Lulu’s youthful appearance (just as radiant in the flesh), style (seriously coveting her buttery-leather biker jacket) and upbeat attitude make this an inspiring read.

Although the To Sir, With Love actress credits yoga, appreciating the beauty in our surroundings and positive thinking as the secret behind looking and feeling gorgeous, she happily recognises the benefit of cosmetics with a chapter entitled: Thank God For Make-Up. Her beauty must-have? Light-reflecting concealer. ‘After a certain age, concealer is more age-appropriate because you don’t end up with that “mask” look. For a flawless finish I just prime my skin with moisturiser, and stroke Dior Skinflash Radiance Booster Pen, £24.50 (01932 233 909) along the grooves that run from my nose to my mouth, and all around my mouth, too. I add a wee bit in the fold below my mouth, blend with my fingers – and that’s it – done!”
